2/27/08-DB Starting slower this week

Breakfast ($1)
Lunch ($5) Madonna burrito with Blake.
Dinner ($0)
Misc. ($16) Parking ticket.
Total: $22...$10 ahead of budget.

I got this parking ticket last week. I was planning on contesting it but am pretty sure they never waive a $16 ticket regardless of your argument. So I am stuck paying it today. Have I said before how much I hate the Pittsburgh Parking Authority? I don't despise the meter maids, they are just doing their job, a pretty rough job at that. But I do hate the Authority for charging someone to park in an awful part of town, far far from their place of employment. Trust me, no one else is looking to park where I do, so give me a free pass! All the surrounding parking lots only charge $5 a day, so why charge me $16 for parking at a broken meter?

I am chomping at the bit to begin biking to work so that I can short circuit the whole system, parking, gas, auto expenses, etc. I plan on becoming a militant bike rider. The benefits of biking to work far outweigh the risks in my opinion. I will save on the aforementioned plus I will be able to "park" very close to work and it will help me keep in shape. The risk being that I get run over.....I'll take my chances =)
